Utopia Weekend 2022

Nov 4, 2022

Our most popular event of the year is back!

Planned by: Josh Butts

Event Overview - 11/4/22 through 11/6/22

Utopia Weekend is our most popular and most anticipated event of the year. Based out of Kerrville, TX, we drive some of the most scenic and enjoyable roads Texas has to offer. Most people come to this part of Texas for The Three Sisters, but we have some great roads this year to add some extra variety. Our events will start with a casual dinner on Friday evening for those who arrive on the early side, a full day of driving on Saturday (still time for a nap before dinner!), and a morning drive on Sunday that ends back near Kerrville so all have easy access to return home in the afternoon.

Our expected plans are laid out below, but are still subject to minor revisions for routes and restaurants.

Friday Evening

Meet us for dinner, a beer, or both at the Trailhead Beer Garden on the campus of Schreiner University. There will be a hotdog food truck on site that is expecting us, or feel free to grab a bite before in Kerrville and stop by after. We'll plan on about 6:30. This is a come and go as you please thing, nothing formal.

Saturday Drive

We have a long trip planned on Saturday! We'll be heading west and south out to Leakey via RM-336 and then passing through Utopia on the way to lunch in Bandera. On the way back we'll hit the best parts of TX-16 with a stop at the Camp Verde general store which will provide a nice area where we can park the cars for a group photo as well.

Meet
8:30a, Inn of the Hills
9:00a departure

Rest Stop
Approximately 10:30a, Stripes, Leakey, TX

Lunch
Approximately 11:45, Brick's River Cafe, Bandera, TX

Rest Stop
Approximately 2:00p, Camp Verde General Store, Center Point, TX

Alternate Route Home
The route back takes a roundabout route back into Kerrville via Center Point. If you'd like to head back directly without the stop and group photo op in Camp Verde, you can proceed directly back on TX-16 saving about 45 minutes.

Saturday Dinner - The Lakehouse

Saturday dinner will be at a The Lakehouse in Kerrville, at 6:30pm. This is a group dinner but if you'd prefer something more low key you can always go on your own for this. Weather permitting, happy hour by the pool at Inn of the Hills before hand.

Sunday Drive

For Sunday's drive, we will depart Kerrville along TX-39 and FM-1430 before our stop in Leakey. From our rest stop we'll drive the most challenging parts of RM-337, past Lost Maples and then back into Kerrville along TX-39 and the Guadalupe River.
