Oktoberfest Drive to Walburg - BMWs, Backroads & Bavarian Food!

Auf geht’s, Tejas Chapter!

It’s Oktoberfest season, and what better way for a BMW club to celebrate than with a spirited afternoon drive through some great Central Texas backroads followed by an evening of authentic German food, live music, and Gemütlichkeit at the Walburg German Restaurant & Biergarten!

This year, we’re making it an afternoon drive so we can arrive in Walburg around 5:00 PM — just in time to enjoy their famous German buffet dinner and spend the evening relaxing with music and a few cold German beers in the Biergarten.

Fire up your Bayerische Motoren Werke, bring your appetite, and get ready for some Fahrspaß!

The Drive

We’ll start our afternoon in Cedar Park and make our way through some of our favorite roads north of Austin, traveling through Bertram, Florence, and finally Walburg.

Please arrive by 2:30 PM to fuel up, meet your fellow drivers, and attend our pre-drive drivers meeting and safety briefing.

Abfahrt! We roll out at 3:00 PM.

Our first leg takes us west on one of our club favorites — FM 1431 — with plenty of curves and Hill Country scenery as we make our way toward Bertram.

We’ll take a short break in Bertram to regroup, stretch our legs, and prepare for the second half of the drive.

From there, we’ll continue through Florence and the surrounding backroads before making our way into Walburg.

For 40 years, Walburg German Restaurant & Biergarten has brought a little piece of Germany to the heart of Texas. It’s also become one of our favorite Tejas Chapter destinations for celebrating the German heritage behind the cars we love.

And this time, we’re arriving for the evening festivities!

We’ll settle in for their German buffet dinner, featuring plenty of Bavarian favorites, and then enjoy the evening with live music and German beers in the Biergarten.

So dust off the lederhosen, lace up the dirndl, polish the BMW, and come hungry.

BMWs. Twisties. Schnitzel. Bratwurst. Bier. Musik.

Oktoberfest is one of Walburg’s busiest times of the year, so please RSVP if you plan to attend. We need to provide the restaurant with an accurate headcount so they can accommodate our group for dinner.
