Tejas Art Tour

This month, we’re heading to Museo Benini, a true hidden gem in the Texas Hill Country. The museum is unique because it not only showcases the work of a single artist, but the artist is there on most Saturdays to greet visitors. As you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by several impressive outdoor sculptures, with even more waiting behind the museum. Inside, the exhibits are arranged chronologically, allowing you to follow the evolution of Benini’s artistic journey from the back-left corner of the gallery to the front. Photography is permitted in the museum.

Admission is free, but as a nonprofit museum, Museo Benini welcomes donations to help keep its doors open and continue sharing this remarkable collection with visitors.

Our drive begins in Kyle and winds through some of the scenic back roads of the Hill Country. We’ll head toward Wimberley before turning north and slightly east. After passing through Driftwood, we’ll cross Highway 290 east of Dripping Springs on our way to a short rest stop on Hamilton Pool Road. From there, we’ll continue northeast before turning east and then north to enjoy lunch at the legendary Opie’s BBQ on Highway 71. After lunch, it’s just a relaxing 15-minute drive to the museum.
