Horsepower Tour

This month’s drive celebrates horsepower whether it’s the power of a single horse pulling a buggy or the 627 horses of the M5 Competition. Our journey will start in San Marcos. We’ll head in a westerly direction toward Canyon Lake for a rest stop.

Leaving Canyon Lake, we’ll turn to the northeast, drive through Driftwood, and on to Dripping Springs for lunch. After lunch, it’s another change of direction to the southwest as we make our way to the day’s destination in Blanco.

The Buggy Barn Museum has over 250 unique buggies, carriages, and wagons dating from the 1840’s to 1900’s. Some of the buggies were used in movies and TV shows such as the remake of True Grit, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer, There Will Be Blood, 1883, and Bass Reeves. We will have a guide for our tour.

Behind the museum is Pine Moore Old West Studio. This is a recreation of an Old West frontier town with a general store, bank, saloon, and church.

We have been given the opportunity to line our BMWs up on the main street of the movie set. The cost for museum admission and parking is $20 for the driver and $10 for each passenger.
